Joe, who got a distinction in his End Point Assessment earlier this year, is now on the staff at Sam鈥檚 Barbers in Derby. 听

He found his apprenticeship through an advert on Instagram straight after leaving school. 听

Joe, 20, said: 鈥淚鈥檝e wanted to go into barbering right from Year 10 at school when I did work experience at a barber鈥檚 shop.

“Whenever I鈥檝e been for a haircut, I鈥檝e always liked the atmosphere in the barber鈥檚. I would have joined the college鈥檚 full-time barbering course had I not been taken on as an apprentice.听

“I love my job at Sam鈥檚. It鈥檚 a pretty cool place to work. There are eight barbers here and we鈥檙e all good mates.听

“It鈥檚 busy. We鈥檙e in Kedleston Road not far from Derby University so we get a lot of students coming into the shop as well as plenty of regular customers.鈥� 听

Joe was assessed at work by 六合彩论坛 and attended the Roundhouse every Monday. 听

He added: 鈥淐ollege was good. My lecturers were friendly and I got on well with听them. One of the best parts听was ticking off everything I鈥檇 mastered as I progressed, such as getting used to using scissors.

鈥淚 did think听about taking the level 3 which included learning about colour etc but I鈥檓 happy with where I am now. My apprenticeship at Sam鈥檚 got me where I wanted to be.

“I enjoy the work environment, talking to customers and meeting new people every day. Most barbers at my stage in their career say they鈥檇 like their own shop eventually and it would be good to be my own boss one day.鈥�听

And, when it comes to barbering, there are always new styles and innovations to challenge Joe. 听

He said: 鈥淢ost of our customers want听short haircuts but we do get听requests for longer hairstyles and mullets.鈥�听
