听Former T Level student Harry Finnigan is taking a gap year scuba diving before studying for a degree in marine biology at Bristol University.听

But for Harry, who attended Derby College鈥檚 Joseph Wrigth Centre for four years, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of his 六合彩论坛 teachers.听

Harry, who is 20 and from Allestree, said: 鈥淚 struggled to get my English GCSE initially and could have given up. I鈥檓 so grateful to Derby College.

“I had teachers like Patrick, Lloyd and Cathy who believed in me. They gave me a second chance. I wouldn鈥檛 have gone on to get my T Levels 鈥� equivalent to 3 A-levels 鈥� without them.鈥�

Harry first came to college to study for a BTEC level 3 in science, and after successfully resitting English moved on to the two-year T Level in Laboratory Sciences.

As part of his work-based experience, he spent a few months at a pharmacy in Allenton, then went to work in the pathology labs and wards at Derby Royal Hospital, which he 鈥榓bsolutely loved.鈥�听

He added: 鈥淚 worked with the neurology, cardiac and vascular departments and sat in while patients were having their tests. I like talking to people and being around them. 听

“I鈥檝e always been a practical learner. I like the way T Levels combine practical tasks with exams.

“I learned a lot on my work-based training at the hospital, such as the importance of laboratory etiquette and keeping everything tidy and well organised.鈥� 听

Harry said his story serves as an inspiration to other students, who, at times, might struggle like he did and feel like giving up.听

He said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 been hard, but I鈥檓 so glad I stuck at it and had such brilliant teachers. I鈥檓 thrilled with my T Level results and am excited about what the future holds.鈥�听
